Mississippi House District 37 Special Election 2022

With the death of Rep. Lynn Wright this past June, Mississippi House of Representatives District 37 seat has been vacant. Two candidates have thrown their hat into the ring for election on November 8, 2022. Though both candidates call themselves conservatives (and Chism noted in campaign literature he is Republican), this is officially a nonpartisan election.

Running in this special election are the following two men (listed alphabetically):

  • Andy Boyd
  • David Chism

The newly-drawn District 37 now covers portions of Lowndes, Monroe, Clay, and Oktibbeha counties. The district’s map was changed considerably following the 2020 census as can be seen below (courtesy of Ballotpedia – link includes more details about this district and past elections including one in which David Chism ran).
